Animal Welfare in Sitia

 Like all charities, "Alliance" needs funds, and our support group, "Friends of the Animals - Sitia", is always looking for ways to raise money. You can help with this by clicking the "Amazon" links here or on the home page, or enter "Store" on the main menu whenever you want to shop on their website. "Alliance" will receive a percentage of the total paid by you to Amazon.

Fundraising events organised by a small group of British volunteers aim to involve all members of the community in events which help to promote awareness of the work of "Alliance"; these events are open to everyone, and details of future events can be seen here.

Saving small change? Money boxes available. Please email if you would like one, or pick one up at the regular Book Sales.

Many people are unaware of the costs of providing help to the needy animals in the town, so any help you can offer will be gratefully received. For instance, one 20kg sack of dog food costs around 25-30 euros, and will feed a large dog for a month. The people who feed the stray dogs & cats in and around the town often dig deep into their own pockets to do so, and need support in this important work.

The tickets for sending dogs to their new homes in Germany are paid for by "Alliance" unless the new owners are willing to donate the cost of the fare - from 20 euros for small dogs carried in the cabin, and from 75 euros for larger ones carried in the hold.

If you feel that you can help with some of these day to day costs or are willing to "sponsor" the vet fees for an individual animal, please let us know. All animals which are sent to new homes have to have all their inoculations and a Pet Passport before they go - this is not cheap!
